When I first came across Kelsey of Tahoe Pine on Instagram, I was immediately drawn to her artistry and craftsmanship as a silversmith. Her work had that rare quality where you can feel the heart and skill behind each piece. I knew right away that I wanted to collaborate with her.
Kelsey creates unique, handcrafted sterling silver jewelry that’s both timeless and full of character — and I had a hunch that my Brook Fishing audience would connect with her pieces just as much as I did. So, I reached out. One message turned into a conversation, and before long we were brainstorming designs that could merge our two worlds: fishing, artistry, and a love for nature.
Working with Kelsey has been a joy. She’s not only incredibly talented, but also genuinely positive, hardworking, and thoughtful in her craft. We even met up for a photoshoot to capture the pieces in their element, and it’s been such a fun journey from idea to finished jewelry.
Together, we decided to create two pieces:
-
The Trout Ring with Pink Spiny Oyster – a sterling silver band with a hand-stamped trout pattern swimming all the way around, finished with a natural pink spiny oyster stone.
-
The Trout Earrings with Pink Spiny Oyster – hand-sawn sterling silver trout brought to life with stamped details and set with vibrant pink spiny oyster stones.
Both designs are completely handmade by Kelsey, which means no two pieces are ever exactly alike — just like every trout, river, and day on the water.
The Meaning of Pink Spiny Oyster
We chose pink spiny oyster not only for its vibrant beauty, but also for its history and meaning. Spiny Oyster shells, with their textured ridges and striking colors, have been used in jewelry for centuries. Beyond their beauty, they carry a sense of symbolism and connection to the sea.
Many believe that spiny oyster offers strength and protection, emotional healing, and balance. It’s also thought to stimulate creativity, imagination, and self-expression, making it the perfect stone for a collaboration born out of shared creativity. With its origins in the ocean, spiny oyster is tied to calming, cleansing, and purifying properties — a reminder of the peace and power of water.
The “spiny” part of its name comes from the rough ridges found on the outside of the shell. While these ridges give it a striking, textured look, it’s the inside of the shell that is most often used in jewelry. The result is a one-of-a-kind stone that adds both meaning and natural beauty to each piece.
Wearable Art for the Water
This collaboration with Tahoe Pine is more than jewelry — it’s wearable art inspired by trout, rivers, and the women who love them. Each ring and pair of earrings is made to be lightweight, comfortable, and versatile enough for everyday wear, whether you’re on the water or off.
I couldn’t be more excited about how these pieces turned out, and I’m so grateful to Kelsey for bringing them to life. Her dedication to detail and high-quality silversmithing shines through in every trout, every stamp, every stone.
These pieces are a celebration of craft, collaboration, and connection to nature — and we can’t wait for you to make them part of your own story.
